Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and Kennedy Space Center's Visitor's Center complex - Located at Cape Canaveral and Titusville - (321)452-2121 - On a shuttle launch day (Launch Schedule) it's impossible to get into KSC without a pass (which can be ordered month's prior to launch), but it can be viewed from nearby Titusville or Cocoa Beach. After launch you can usually get into the KSC Visitors Complex. It's operated by a private for-profit company. Within the Complex you will find 2 IMAX theaters with different shows, and exhibits titled: Astronaut Encounter, where you can meet a real astronaut; Robot Scouts (where you may also encounter a roving remote robot); The "Quest For Life" film at the Universe Theater, the Launch Status Center where you may also see live briefings; The 'Space Person' (see the photo with my daughter above) where you can get a photo op with someone dressed in a spacesuit; "Mad Mission to Mars 2025" is at the New Millenium Theater. There is a 'Rocket Garden' where you will see real 60's era rockets (This area of the Visitors Center, like most of the others of the others, used to be free admission, but now you must pay the private-for-profit-company and NASA to see them.) There are bus tours of the center and you can see a giant Saturn V rocket, and sometimes you can view the preparation of modules for the International Space Station Alpha (which has been closed every time I've checked). Their tour also includes Launch Complex 39 Observation Gantry (which is only 4 stories high) from which you may (or may not depending on their schedule) glimpse a shuttle on a very distant launch pad. The gift shop is excellent and well-stocked (including 1 of a kind items.) Also there are low-to-medium quality fast food establishments. While there, also consider visiting Cocoa Beach or Astronaut Hall of Fame which are nearby.
